Each of us have different talents, different abilities that we can use to contribute to human society.
Some of us are able to become diplomats, some can become good followers, but others have the ability to become leaders.
Although many people may claim that leadership skills are genetic, there are just as many who have shown that leadership skills can be acquired or learned.
It is of extreme importance that the inherent leadership skills of every person are developed as much as possible.
In today's world, every person is regarded as an individual. Irrepective of what we think or feel about others, the fact is that in any society we need each other. This especially true in organizations.
This is why leadership skills are so important. We cannot all lead, so he or she who does must be best prepared to do so.
Most people need to be shown the importance of leadership skills. It demonstrates that leaders are essential and that business cannot survive without them. It demonstrates that the more successful the leader, then generally the more successful the business.
Once it is understood that the leader is simply the coordinator of a team, then the easier it usually is for a team to work effectively under a leader. This is one of the main leadership skills: to lead without others feeling led, so to speak, and therefore feeling part of a team rather than paid servants.
One of the most important leadership skills is the ability to interact properly with other people. The ability to communicate a message so that it is understood unambiguously. To understand what another is saying and not only to treat other people's views seriously, but to be sen to eb doing so. That is a leadership skill which too many fail to achieve.
A good 'leader' is not a 'boss'. A person with good leadership skills is a persuader rather than a commander.
This persuasive leadership skill is necessary in trying to reach an agreement with other people. The fact that you can coordinate between two parties shows them that you can be trusted to reach an agreement.
Charisma is another facet of leadership which frequently understated. Every good leader needs to persuade people to follow him. He may achieve this by the use of speech, appearance, attitude and that something undefinable called charisma.
Charisma has been proved throughout history to be an undefinable 'something' which grea leaders have had. Love them or hate them, but people such as Adolg Hitler, Naopleon Bonaparte, Lord Nelson, Catherine the Great and even Sir Winston Churchill had that indefinable quality called charisma. They had their followers in times of need.
One major problem with charismatic people is that once the time of need has gone, they are turned against. Napoleon was castigated after Waterloo, Churchill failed to win the post war election in Britain, Hitler was denounced by his countrymen who had previously vowed to folloow him to the grave.
They were great leaders with great charisma.
Charisma can be a very dangerous thing as most people make decisions on how it "feels" to them.
Charisma is a leadership skill thatcan probably not be acquired, probably because of the fact that it is indefiable. If you ask someone to define charisma, they will probably shrug and say "just something about them".
Leadership skills such asd these are extremely important since they form the basis of human relationships. Whether we realise it or not, we emloy leadership skills in everyday life.
In discussions, arguments, negotiations with our families, we make use of our charisma, our skills in doplamcy, such as they are, and many other leadership skills in order to get our way.
We all want something and frequently the key to getting that lies in another person. Therefore we use all the leadership skills we have to persuade that person to help us achieve our goal.
We discuss, argue, direct, try tro persuade and sometimes even threaten other people so that we achieve what we want to achieve.
Being a human being demands that we must have have leadership skills in order to survive. The corollary, therefore, is that all people have the ability to be leaders.
Whether or not that is a good thing still remains to be seen, but nurture that ability and use it while you can. Because one thing is sure. You will not be the leader wherever you end up after this life!
